I am still getting the warning that my /c folder and /themes folder are not writeable. They are all set to 777. I have changed folders to give access to other plugins in the past without any issues. Does anybody have a solution?

  • Hi there,

I improved the diagnostics slightly in 1.1.9 so that it explains exactly what it didn’t like about the directory settings.

Ownership of the folders is also sometimes important, I suspect (even for WordPress updates etc too). Is it possible to make sure they are owned by the web server user too? (e.g. use chown if you have shell access)

If that does solve your problem, I will update the docs and message accordingly.

    Thanks
    James

    Hey James,

I am also certain that my /themes and /c folder permissions are set to 777, and am also getting the error. I am getting also getting the following error when accessing a settings page:

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

same here. had to turn the plugin off, cuz it always wants me to correct folder permissions for theme updates, but my plugin folders are all 777 with the right owner admin on the tracks.

I have the same issues with permissions on a clean install, first plugin to be installed. All chmod and chown settings correct using WP V 2.9.2. Curious, I installed it about 3 weeks ago on another site just to check it out, same server, same WP version and it installed without a single complaint. The fact that it contradicts what I view through SSH is disconcerting. Anything I can do to help? You are on your way to a great product.

PHP safe mode off resolved that permission problem for me.

Updated to latest version of Mobile Pack. Getting the same permission errors as the posts above, even after changing the permissions to correct ones, and reactivating. Previous version worked…

Anyone got the permission issue fixed?

i have the same problem using version 1.2.0 and the latest 1.2.1 just as the posts above.

this is the only problem i have, and i never got this problem before on installing this plugin

does anyone got this issue fixed? or just any clue maybe?

    thanks

I’m having the same problem with version 1.2.1 in WordPress 2.9.2.

The error that comes up when I activate the plugin says:

Not able to cache images to /var/www/vhosts/ ... /wpmp_transcoder/c
    and
Not able to install theme files to /var/www/vhosts/ ... /themes

Both these folders are set to 777, but I can’t change the ownership because I’m on a shared server without shell access.

I went ahead and uninstalled it. No reason to keep the pack if it is not installing properly. I’ll sit on the fence until fixed.

Anyone found a solution to the permission errors yet?

I installed the plugin (WP 3.0) set the permissions (I had the error), then desactive/active the plugin, and now is running smoothly

Getting this same problem using WP 3.0 WordPress Mobile Pack 1.2.3. Also running W3 Total Cache 0.9.0

WP 3.0.1 Not having the problem at Network Solutions but I am having it at another host. Set Safe Mode to OFF – all good now.
