[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Admin not working as expected starting with 1.2.8 through 1.2.8.3

WordPress version: 3.2.1

WordPress SEO version: was working at 1.2.7, issues started with upgrade to 1.2.8, then 1.2.8.1 then 1.2.8.2 and today 1.2.8.3

I did this: upgraded WP SEO as noted above

I expected the plugin to do this: work as expected before the upgrades

Instead it did this:

–ajax throughout admin stopped working…
–deactivated other plugins one at a time and all with no effect…
–deactivate WP SEO and everything works as expected
–cannot toogle/open any WP SEO meta headers in posts or pages editors…
–cannot toggle/open screen options or help…
–the titles and metas page is blank with no details at all and unable to click on tabs…nothing happens.

Tried deleting the WordPress-seo-es_ES file with no effect in 1.2.8.2
