[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Include content from custom fields on page analysis

  • Hi guys!

    Does anyone know how to include content from custom fields (i’m using advanced custom fields plugin) on the page analysis tool? I’m using some custom fields to display info on my page, and the main keyword is in those custom fields. WordPress SEO only looks for the main key word on the_content(); part of the page/post/etc.

    Any help on this would be awesome.

    Looks like it’s something to get solved Yoast Side.

    Any answer on how to do this? acf is awesome, and yoast seo is awesome. It would be great if they worked together!

    I agree that this would be nice to have. It seems like it wouldn’t be too hard. I’m thinking an option in the SEO plugin that allows users to select a custom field(s) to include in the page analysis and apply it as a filter to the_content?

    Any movement on this…. still thread diving to see if there’s an answer somewhere. This would be very welcome indeed.

    What we did for now, and are hoping to compile it into a plugin, is hook into the wpseo_metadesc filter (yes, the Yoast plugin is awesome) and do a bunch of fancy stuff. Inside there we check for post_type and then grab the custom field(s)we want and add to / update the description. What’s really cool is that the admin side honors the filter, so the custom column in the post views will show your custom description.

    I would be interested in this as well! Sounds like it would be a great add on for those who use custom fields!

    Any update on the plugin Never Settle? Or possibly a gist or github of your code?

    Thanks for voicing all the interest – definitely helps us know that it will be worth the effort, and we’re actively working on it. Not sure on time frame yet, but will keep this thread updated with any developments.
