[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Meta-keywords not appearing

  • I’ve read the article about meta-keywords being a waste of time and all that, but I do have a client who wants them anyway. I’m assuming these would pull from the “focus keywords” fields in each page/post?

    I’ve checked the “Use meta keywords tag?” box, but not seeing any addition to the pages. Am I missing a step?

    EDIT: never mind! I see that a new Meta Keywords field is made to appear and the keywords go there. Hopefully this clarification will help someone else.

    Yes I know what you mean. Also can I only place in one keyword per page… Seems odd as I have around 8 keywords per page

    I guess my question is similar. I watched the training on Lynda.com regarding how to do SEO on WordPress. In doing so, I placed keywords in the header.php file as instructed. Those keywords are in place for every page.

    Then I did SEO analysis on my site via GoDaddy tool and it complained that all of my pages have the same keywords. I guess this can be a red flag to search engines.

    Wanting to have greater control, I installed SEO by Yoast on my site and am in the process of updating each page according to their recommendations.

    It looks as though the WordPress meta tags trump the SEO By Yoast tags because I don’t see any of the tags showing up. I see the SEO by Yoast tags in the page source, but not the focus keywords.

    And while I did read that the focus keywords don’t matter, I don’t want to be dinged for having redundant keywords.

    Update. I did check the “meta keywords enabled” and now both of the keywords show up in the source. I would guess that since the SEO By Yoast keywords show up second, then it trumps the others…versus getting concatonated to?

    This is confusing.

    And the focus keyword again differs from meta keywords…how?
