My blog is fairly new and I just saw that one of my plugins has been indexed by Google. I didn’t see any option in the SEO plugin to exclude specific folders from being indexed.

Is there any way to deal with this issue using the WordPress SEO plugin? I thought that was one of the purposes of the indexation feature.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Sharyn,

Is the plugin’s directory being shown in google? If so, you could create a robots.txt file inside the plugin folder and block robots from accessing it pasting this code inside it:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /

    Cheers!

Yes, it’s the index being shown.

So, I just create a file called robots.txt and paste only that code in? Then upload it to the WP plugins folder? No other code needed?

I’ve never had to do anything like this before, so I want to make sure I don’t mess up anything.

    Thanks!

Yeah, that should do it. However, just in case, don’t upload it into the plugins folder: upload it inside the folder of the one plugin that is showing up on Google.
Let me know if it works or if you encounter any other problems.
    Good luck!

I think it worked, but I don’t know yet. Guess it takes a while for Google to deindex something.

    Thanks for your help!
