  • Hi

This is happening to me to

    latest wordpress 3.4
    lastest yoast seo Version 1.2.3

the page analysis says the word count is 33 when in fact there are 400 words

could this be because of the use of shortcodes in the body count?

    thanks

Having the same problem as Kyle Irving (and also using the same, latest levels of both WordPress and the plugin).

WordPress Word count 214, Page analysis: “There are 97 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased.”

I found that the plugins counts up to an area with ‘clickable’ images. When I cut that part out, word count is correct again. Putting it back in: same erroneous word count.

Possibly related: Page analysis claims “The images on this page are missing alt tags.”. However, ALL <img> contain alt-tags.

I am having the same issue on several pages. Specifically on my index page. Page analysis is saying I have 90 words, Word says I have 367.

    Running WP 3.4
    Yoast SEO 1.2.3

Maybe a silly thought, but could PrettyPhoto be in the way somewhere? Do Trenton.Crawford, Kyle_Irving or radkitten use PrettyPhoto, maybeit from there WP-Theme? This may be useful information for Joost! Hope to hear from you soon.

    I don’t use PrettyPhoto, no.

For me it happens anytime I have a line break shortcode inserted in a page.

I too am having this problem. I posted separately not realizing this thread was already running:

    My Page Analysis says:
    – There are 1 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased. (in actuality, there are 1585 words)
    – The keyword density is 0%, which is a bit low, the keyword was found 0 times. (in actuality, there are 26 instances)

Could you all try 1.2.5 and report if this is still happening?

I hate to sound like the newbie, but I have 1.2.4 installed, but I do not see a prompt on my plugin screen to update to 1.2.5 automatically. How do I update the plugin safely without reinstalling it and deleting all my settings?

OK, it took a few moments for WordPress to recognize that WordPress SEO had an update. I updated to 1.2.5 and I still have the same issue of the Page Analysis only seeing 1 word on my page instead of 1585…

this is the page in question, in case it helps:

Hi Joost, thanks a lot for your help!

Updated to WordPress SEO 1.2.5 and WordPress 3.4.1. Did not solve the problem. Word count is correct on all pages and posts I checked (different from WordPress’ word count, though), except for this page:

    https://www.zakenmasseurs.nl/gediplomeerde-stoelmasseurs/

Problem seems to be line 160. Word counter of WordPress SEO stops counting there. When I leave that line one out word count is correct. Putting the line back in word count is too low again.

The incorrect analysis “The images on this page are missing alt tags.” is still on all my pages en posts. Is this a related problem? Do you want me to start a new thread on that?

    Hi Joost,

I can confirm that the problem is there in 1.2.5, I have the following message for a post with nearly 300 words:

There are 1 words contained in the body copy.

Please, all of you who are still having issues, send me a WordPress export of the WordPress install you’re having issues with, i’ll import in my test install and will try to fix it.

(You can email me at joost at my domain)

    So, just to be clear:
-go to my “tools” tab and click “export”
-make sure “all content” is selected and click “download export file”
    -save file to my computer
-email file to joost at yoast dot com

Is that correct? This will be the first time I have done this…
