[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Problem with home page title and meta description

  • Hi, I am fairly new to the world of seo and wordpress in general so please forgive my ignorance. I have a couple of questions.

    1. Firstly after configuring everything I still don’t show up in any search engines, unless i type in the actual url https://www.bournemouthguitarlessons.co.uk into the search field.

    2. Secondly my homepage title is –12345 and the meta description isn’t what I have set it to via the titles & metas tab. (i deleted the –12345) Same applies to my individual pages. Old titles and old stock meta descriptions.

    3. I am thinking, that changes I have made take a while to update in Google.. is this the case? Or should it update it immediately? It has been 24 hours since my updates.

    Can anyone offer any advice please in laymens terms? Thank you.

    I feel I have to bump this as I still cannot find the solution and I have been searching all day.

    Someone reading this MUST know how to resolve this problem I have. Any help is very appreciated!

    I could be wrong but I notice you also have Add-Meta-Tags installed. Might be worth deactivating so Yoast can take care of the meta data.

    Also it does take time for google to see your changes.

    I have the same problem, but I don’t have Add-Meta-Tags installed, or any other plugin that could be interfering with the Yoast plugin.

    I have a couple of websites that where it occurs
    https://www.vogelvrij.eu, https://www.confiad.nl, https://zachockey.nl/2012/, but others not (https://voorburgcc.nl/) alltough they all have the Yoast plugin installed.
    And I can’t find it in the settings, or in the code at all.

    any help would be appreciated :)!

    I do have the same problem. After instaling SEO the name of my homeage was changed: Manufactura Abram Kelly – FINE ART PRINT na ru?ní papír – 12345
    Why there is 12345?? and where is my SEO title and Meta Description? Google is still using the old ones but added 12345!

    Also my meta description for my homepage and all my subpages are still showing the default description, and not the new descriptions that I added via the yoast seo plugin.

    Joost just released an update a few minutes ago. I think the bug is fixed ?? see the Changelog 1.2.4:

    Fix wrong homepage titles with 12345 in them because of bug in 1.2.2.

    Looks like WPSEO has been updated Today and in the change logs it fixes the “12345” problem.

    I would suggest updating to WP 3.4.1 and also WPSEO 1.2.4
