[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Sitemaps Problem – 404 & OpenGraph After Update

This might be helpful when you try to debug the Open Graph problem: Facebook Debugger.

If it doesn’t work otherwise, you might want to check out Wonderm00n’s Simple Facebook Open Graph Meta Tags, which sets og:image by these rules: “From post/page featured/thumbnail image, or if it doesn’t exists from the first image in the post content, or if it doesn’t exists from the first image on the post media gallery, or if it doesn’t exists from the default image defined on the options menu.”

For sitemaps, this has gotten very good reviews and seems to work well: Better WordPress Google XML Sitemaps (with sitemapindex and Multi-site support).

The author sitemap IS working, the XSL isn’t working for it though… Also: naming your custom taxonomy “author” is a BAD idea.

Well author is a term used in WP all the time, so it might collide with core or with other plugins, also the “slug” author is used for author pages, eg.:

https://yoast.com/author/admin/

etc.

Yup but i don’t have any “author” custom taxonomy…I’ve changed the slug from author to redazione because is pointless to have an english term in an italian url…

I’m also having problems with the /author-sitemap.xml. It loads, without the XSL css (which is fine), but Google doesn’t like it at all. I looked at the links in the site map xml, they are not broken yet Google Webmaster Tools is saying:

Errors
Parsing error
We were unable to read your Sitemap. It may contain an entry we are unable to recognize. Please validate your Sitemap before resubmitting.

I’m pretty sure this is due to the co-authors plus plugin, which registers an “author” taxonomy. I just wanted the authors sitemap removed from the list and was able to do it by adding “author” to the arrays on line 176 and 446 in wordpress-seo/inc/class-sitemaps.php

If you use both plugins there are validation errors in the author sitemap due to ampersands I think.

I tried this but google can still ‘see’ the author sitemap, do you know where else it may reference that sitemap?

I also have the same problem with the author sitemap. I am using Co-Authors Plus as well, so it seems quite likely that’s where the conflict is.

However, I don’t really want to to give up the capability of having more than one author for a post. Does anyone know of another solution? Or it is possible to modify WordPress SEO for compatibility with Co-Authors Plus?
