Hi Joost, just upgraded to 1.1.7. Great new release, thanks for your ongoing efforts on this fantastic plugin.

I have a question on og:image. Would it be possible to enhance the logic for generating this tag(s) in a future release in the following way:
    – whenever a post/page has a featured image set, only create an og:image tag for this one image
    – only if no featured image is set, create og:image tags for all images discovered in the post/page (as you just newly implemented in 1.1.6/1.1.7)

I realize that this request may not suit the needs of all of your > 1M users :). So maybe another way would be to have an option in the ‘social’ settings, something like ‘create og:image tag only for featured image?’.

Thanks as always, and best regards –
    Norbert

I would love this too. Facebook isn’t defaults to the featured image anymore, and I’d like it to. I don’t want it to find the other images (it’s pulling from my sidebar too).

Also, I noticed the featured image defaults to “full” instead of the “thumbnail” now. This causes the image to display incorrectly on Google+, and also makes the images on Facebook look inconsistent.

The issue is most thumbnail sized images are too slow by Facebook’s new standards, so that doesn’t work well…. There are filters there to make it do what you want it to:

    • wpseo_opengraph_image to change the images being output, return false if you don’t want those.
    • wpseo_opengraph to add more if needed.
