[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] two title descriptions in homepage source

I’ve got this in the header of my source <meta name=”description” content=”” />
Beneath this in the toast plugin section
<!– This site is optimized with the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin v1.1.5 – https://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/ –>
I’ve got the correct meta description that I would like to display. I’m guessing the first is overriding the second. Any idea? All comments welcome
