[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] Update fails could not remove old plugin

Wordpress SEO 1.2.8.1 trying to upgrade to 1.2.8.2The WordPress SEO Plugin update to 1.2.8.2 fails to complete due to not being able to remove the old plugin.
Background: Just migrated two WP sites to new VPS environment. Had some folder/file permissions/ownership issues initially. The one site upgraded fine with user:group set to apache:apache. Preferrign to match a vanilla WP install on this host using Plesk and not use apache:apache I changed to the <admin user>:psacln on the other site which has resolved all other permission issues except WordPress-SEO upgrade noting other plugins did upgrade under this config.
