Plugin Works, even if its not activated?

Hi, thanks for this lifesaving plugin, its very helpful.

I need to ask though, i see on the Documentation website that this plugin says: “When they install and activate your plugin they will be asked to enter the license key in order to activate it. At this stage the customer will not able to use the plugin until they successfully activate a valid license key”. – this is not the case for me.
The plugin still works eventhough its not activated..
Am i doing something wrong?
I just wrote my plugin at the bottom of your “client sample” – but when i run the plugin, it works without activation.
Futher more, on activation, the plugin does not ask for a license – the user has to go to the options page and activate it themselves?
