I am using WP Ad Manager and think it’s great. Can’t seem to find basic documentation for things like having specific ads show up as the first ad on every page then rotating in other ads based specific numbering. It looks like the ID would be the thing to change, but I can’t seem to find a way to change the numbers on my ads. I’m guessing they are given an ID number by the order in which they are uploaded. As it is now the first ad I created (0) is coming up on cached pages, but I would like for the last one I created (3) to come up first. Is this possible and I am just missing it?

    Thanks!

Sorry, I don’t understand what are you trying to do.
Do you want to have one Ad in two positions?

And just to avoid confusion: rotation means that different ads will be loaded when you refresh (or when other person visits) the page. They will not rotate when page is loaded (like carousel).

Sorry, let me see if I can be more clear. Right now I have three ads loaded in WP-Ad-Manager. They are:

    0 Mikel Allen Designs
    1 SAInFocus.com
    2 KLRN

They seem to have been given these ID number due to the order in which I uploaded them. When you go to https://businesssouthtexas.com the first ad that loads is Mikel Allen Designs. I would like KLRN to load first on all pages then SAInFocus.com then Mikel Allen Designs. Is this possible?

    Thanks!

Ah, now i see what you mean.
Do you have all those ads in one position?

Yes I do. I tried to make three positions, but it would create errors when I did.

    I created the first position.
    Name: 1
    Description: Ad 1

    and I get this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_LNUMBER, expecting T_STRING in /home3/mikelall/public_html/businesssouthtexas/wp-content/plugins/wp-ad-manager/ad-minister-functions.php(301) : eval()’d code on line 2

Alright, so if you want only one ad to show up at a time you don’t need to change anything. You are making wrong assumption, that ads are rotated in certain order, when actually they are showing up randomly. That means that each ad has the same chance to show up in any page.

If you want all 3 ads to be shown at once, then you need to create additional positions. When creating positions please don’t use spaces, dashes or underscores, choose name like “ad1” or “adposition1”, etc. I will try to fix this bug during the weekend, it seems, that quite a lot of people are having trouble with it.

Let me know if that helps.

Actually, I want to have only one ad show at at time with the KLRN ad to show up first on the page the first time a new viewer comes to the page then rotate to the sainfocus once the page is refreshed then the mike allen designs once the page is refreshed again. I do understand that when they come back again the will have this info cached so that it won’t come up first again necessarily, but is there not a way to designate which ad shows up first for a brand new viewer?

I should have known about the spaces issue, sorry about that oversight. I will know next time if I want multiple ads to show up on one page, but that is not actually what I am looking for this time.

Ah, then you don’t need to change anything at all. Leave it as is, the plugin should do it’s job. You should be able to see the count of impressions in the wp-ad-manager->content page.

Will you trust me, or should i give you an example how this stuff works? it involves probability theory ??

I do trust that they come up at 33% intervals. I would just like to be able to give tiered pricing for ads. First ad on all pages is one price, second ad is another price etc. Guess I’ll just have to give one blanket price for all ads.

    Thanks for the help!

Well, when you think about it, if you only show second ad only when user reloads page, and third ad when user reloads page second time then first ad would be shown for 100% visitors, second ad would show up for 20% (or whatever is the number of people who reloads page) and the third ad would show up only for 5% (or so..) visitors.

You can achieve similar effect by simply giving certain weights for ads.
And you could have a different position for one ad that shows up every time.

So you could have three prices:

    1. Main sponsor – ad shows up for all users (different position for each ad)
    2. Premium rotating (rotating ad with higher weight that regular)
    3. Regular rotating (rotating ad with regular weight)

That makes so much sense! I just needed to be able to explain it my clients! Thanks for the plugin and the support!!!
