• I just set this up at https://blog.thelifeofbrian.info — click “TAGS/CATEGORIES” in the upper right sidebar.

I’ve added (as you can guess) both tags and categories — but since my blog started years ago when blogger didn’t support categories, a TON of my posts are categorized as ‘Uncategorized’. I’d like to exclude this category…

I tried adding ‘exclude=1’ to the wp_tag_cloud parameters (I *think* that’s the right ID for this category?) but it has no effect.

Can somebody set me on the right path here? Thanks!!!

I’m looking for the answer to this one as well. The option for wp-cumulus is set to “Tags” (not Both), but “Uncategorized” still showing up in there. I will also accept globally disabling categories as a solution to this issue, if anyone knows the proper method for doing that in WP 2.9.2. I’ve found some things on that for older versions, but I’m not sure if they’ll be right. Anyone?

Mcascardi, that should not happen. Are you sure you set it in the right place? There are separate settings for the widget and the shortcode version.

As for removing Uncategorized, the only way is to make sure the category has no posts in it. Usually, posts are only in that category because it’s the default and the poster forgot to change it.

WP-Cumulus does not at this point have a way to exclude categories.
