each time I change a setting – product to business reviews or click on one of the buttons at the bottom (enable plugin for all existing posts) – my WP to Twitter plugin sends a tweet about every single post! Ouch!

I’ve stopped editing now just in case it does it again – and of course I can disable WP to Twitter when I work on this if there is no general fix but as a newbie I am just wonderin if I am missing something obvious.

    Any thoughts?

    cheers

I’ll take a look at this… Basically the plugin is supposed to clear any caching plugin’s cache when settings are changed (this is because some of the settings affect all pages, posts and not just enabled pages. I have a feeling that when it does that, WP to Twitter is seeing it as a page update and sending a tweet. My recommendation for now would be to tell WP to Twitter to only tweet for new posts and not for updates.

I’ll look at the code and see if there is another way to do this, or if I am doing something odd. I haven’t heard any other reports of this, but it may be that the default settings for those types of plugins usually don’t have it tweeting/posting on update, only on new post.

This should be fixed in 2.4.1 – hopefully it doesn’t cause any other side effects, but it should prevent other plugins from firing since it does not use wp_update_post calls any longer. I fear that some uncommon caching plugins might have an issue, but we’ll deal with that if there is a need.

    Thanks!
