• Is there a way to let people use Facebook Connect to authorize a comment, but not create a WordPress account so they won’t be able to access any aspect of the WP-Dashboard?

Not as far as I know – but this plugin lets you remove most elements of the Dash. Since FB users get the subscriber role assigned, this does the trick out of the box. Read the documentation on the site for more information on how to dumb down the Dashboard for other roles.

    hey jvinch,
thanks for suggesting that. that’s one step in the right direction.

i really want to figure out a way so that no users need to be even created in the WP Database. In my opinion if you have a blog with tons of commenters who may or may-not ever come back, why store their info and bulk up the database? all that needs to be done is authorize them for a comment so that their name, email, url, and photo are all included with their comment. nothing more.

    I second this!

Actually, you can create a basic Facebook App and take advantage of the widgets for that: https://www.facebook.com/facebook-widgets/
