[Plugin: WP Family Tree] Cannot add mother, father, or spouse

  • Hi there,

    Thanks for the great plugin. I believe I’ve followed all appropriate instructions, including creating a “Family” post category and adding a few posts / members to it.

    Unfortunately I can’t seem to set any of the reference fields — mother, father or spouse. When I click on one of the fields, it’s empty. Any help would be appreciated! I’m on version 1.0 of the plugin. Thanks!

  • You have to add the mother, father or spouse as a post in your family tree category first. After that they will show up in the fields!

    Now I have the same issue. Haven’t changed a thing, as far as I know, and can’t see anything in the fields for mother, father or spouse.

    Did the problem ocurr after upgraduing either wordpress or teh plugin itself?

    It’s not a problem for me now. I tried to change the category name to one with a Swedish letter which caused the problem. Maybe you should change to category slug instead of name to make international characters possible!?

    It is a good idea and I will consider it for a future release.

    Actually “Sl?kt” (relatives/family). Your example should be spelled “Familjemedlemmar” so it would be possible today ??

    I have the same problem. I can’t select mother, father or spouse either.
    One of the plugins I use is qtranslate, but the category is named Family in both languages (English and Dutch). Could that cause the issue?

    I created a fresh develop 3.4.2 WordPress install and added the wp-family plugin, but I still can’t select spouse, mother or father.

    What category have you set for your family members’ posts?

    Also check the family tree settings page as you have to specify the category name there.

    It is the “slug” of the category that needs to be the same.

    I was reading some of posts and thought maybe you might know if there is something out there for me. I raise whitetail deer and I would like to have a lineage for my deer. A place to put the DNA, birth, death, sire, dam, babies, pics, then when clicked on a pic in the lineage it takes me too that deer and its lineage. I haven’t decided on my theme yet because I’ve been trying to find a theme that would be suitable for this.

    I have Settings set to show Spouse, but there is no field for Spouse in the individual family tree posts. They show fields for Father, Mother, Children, and Siblings, but none for Spouse. How can I add one, so the spouse will show in the post?
