• Hi

I’ve read that you can only follow one blood line in a tree. To get around this I was looking to create two separate pages with a tree each – one for my mothers side and one for my fathers.

The only problem is that I would new a new category so that the second tree doesnt pick up posts with a category of “family”.

Is it possible to use another category “family2” for example

    regards

If I understand what you are trying to do then I think you’ll be able to do it with the plugin as-is.. by just using the same Family category for all individuals.

I have actually done that myself on my own tree. If you send me a message through the family tree plugin home page, then i can send you a link to my family tree if you want.

For the different trees just specify different “root” parameter for the family-tree shortcode.

Hi, I did as you mentioned above, but it is a blank block. Can you please give a sample of the correct family-tree shortcode?

    Thanks

    Hi Arv

Do you mean to download the ‘as-is’ plugin or is that short for some name to download (I coudln’t find as-is)

and i assume that’s not a suggestion for a replacement for your plugin!?

Also, is the sort order of family members sorted yet

All the best, keep up the good work!

My guess is that you entered the [family-tree root = ‘___’] as text rather than as code. If you go to the text view of the editor and then start with [family-tree root = '___'] it should work.
