I’ve tried with version 3.06.1, and just downloaded the latest version of the plugin today (3.07.0). When I create an invoice for partial payment using PayPal (yes the IPN is setup correctly), the first payment goes through fine and the invoice properly updates the payment made by the customer. The issue is when the customer goes to process a subsequent payment through the existing invoice. PayPal gives a very basic and unhelpful message stating: “This invoice has already been paid. For more information, please contact the merchant.”

OK, figured it out… It wasn’t an issue with the plugin at all. I needed to change the following setting in my PayPal Account:

Profile > More Options > My Selling Tools > Block Payments (click Update link)

    Block accidental payments:
You may prevent accidental payments by blocking duplicate invoice IDs
Yes, block multiple payments per invoice ID
No, allow multiple payments per invoice ID

    Hope this helps somebody.

This plugin sounds like what i am looking for, but are the subsequent payments dependent on the customer or can the credit/installment be taken by the merchant or website owner?

My client wants to provide installment (credit) payments spread over 12 months with an initial (for example 20%) deposit. The payments need to be taken from the customers bank (direct debit) or payment method (credit card) via a credit aggreement. I have investigated PayPal’s subscription payment, but i am not sure if this relies on the customer making the reoccurring monthly payment.
