[Plugin: WP Photo Album] 2.5 compatibility

  • This is a great plug-in — though has anyone tried to get this working on WP 2.5? When I create my first album — the admin screen shows a prompt “Are you sure you want to do this?” but there’s not button or link to indicate “yes.”

    I’m probably gonna go back to 2.33 until this is fixed. I have WPPA 1.1.

  • I’m having the same problem. At least I know I’m not alone. ?? Hopefully there’ll be a solution soon.

    I’ve had the same problem. Basically, it doesn’t work with 2.5. Also, another major problem (for me) is that the order in which photos are displayed seems to be pretty random, and not related to file name, order of upload, or anything (this applies to 1.1 too). And so this plug in is not suitable at all for a gallery where order is important. I’ve abandoned it, and found a different solution. A shame, because, apart from these problems, the plug in was good.

    Me too. I did an update and the image gallery works in the front end but I can no longer update it.

    I don’t really know how to solve it. I have some php knowledge but not as deep as to try to find a solution. What did you do geoff? Did you install another gallery?

    Whould be great to have some tips concerning where to touch at. Do you know about wich wp 2.5 new features/changes can affect this?

    I was busy beyond, and didn’t see and any reason to update it when 2.5 has galleries built it. But due to all the request, I fixed it. Not sure about future development.
    Just a question: is it better in any way then the built in gallery function? (I didn’t get a chance to try it out yet)

    Nice to hear that! The built-in gallery just basically places media into posts, but does not allow the creation of albums, and all that stuff. With that you can create a category and sub-categories for each photo album but it’s not the same.

    It really makes more sense your plugin. As I said before, I’m not a php expert but if you need some help on that in the future count on me. You’ve developed such a good plugin, and whould be great to keep it alive, at least until wp releases a similar native gallery.

    I still can’t get a version newer than 1.0 to work properly with WP 2.5.1. 1.0 works, but it just displays my already existing galleries. I can’t add any new pictures. Has anyone gotten this working?

    With 2.6 and using the gallery templates floating around, I’ve been able to migrate away from any sort of Gallery plugin and use the integrated gallery function/shortcode available in 2.6.

    See this hack to get the album/hierarchy functionality in WP found in most (actually all) gallery plugins.
