Had a closer look to what you did. Its a reaaly good job. It makes it so much easier to use your plugin.
It is not exactly what I expected, for you told about the [] concept, which would make it possible to use the shortcodes in standard widgets or so and it would follow the standard shortcode syntax.
But at the moment I’m not sure, if your solution is not the better way.
Whatever, I think your button in the editor is a really brilliant thing.
    thanks for that,

The fact that a shortcode can or can not be used in a standard widget is not dependant of the syntax ( [] vs. %% %% ) but of whether the filter that does the work is activated at a certain point. As i do not add my filter to the ‘widget_content’ filters, my filter does not work there.

For this purpose we have the WPPA+ text widget that does render the wppa+ %% based scripts. This is important because some sizes are automaticly scaled down in widgets e.g. the filmstrip thumbnails.
Once in the WPPA+ Text widget (and other wppa+ widgets) WPPA+ ‘knows’ that it acts inside a widget. That is why.

I am indeed planning to modernize the shortcode structure, but i will always have to be backward compatible to support existing posts/pages.
