That is called the Photo of the day widget.
It can do what you ask…. also on every page load ! “What’s in a name”…

I would like to make a donation for this plugin as it so useful – let me know how to do that.

Could we have a ‘download full size image’ button on the slideshow which does just that – it should download a full size version of the image being displayed in the slideshow. Even better would be an additional button that says ‘Download all fullsize images in slideshow’.

If you do not check the BBB’s (Table II-19) the visitor can right-click the image and save the (fullsize) image.

I would like to be able to set things so that if you click on a thumbnail in an album you open a slideshow on the same page but if you click the slideshow image it opens in a new window (ie the ability to set the new window option separately for the two events).

You can set New tab in Table VI for all link types independantly. You can even overrule this setting for individual images on the Manage Photos section of the edit album page.

I would like to be able to select which photo is used as the thumbnail to display the album rather than have it selected at random.

Go to the Album Admin page, press the green Edit of the album involved, and select the Cover photo you want.

I would like to to be able to display two or more single images in a post or page next to each other running across the page ‘floating left’.

This is still aproblem, but you can always add photos manually to the page/post like:

<a href="..."><img src="https://www....../wp-content/uploads/wppa/13.jpg" style="..."></a>
