hi, i’ve just downloaded and installed wp photo album plus to my site (www.qianlidao.com.au) and everything seems to be working as good and as easily as I have read, thanks. But when I went to trial my new image gallery page, where I put two albums up, one will play the slideshow while the other will not. The one that won’t is twice as large (number of photos) than the one that works. I thought that I might have to wait a bit for the information to load, but even waiting a bit didn’t make anything happen with the one that won’t load. I’ve searched the forums but couldn’t find anything that seemed to suit my problem. Can you help me get it going, please? Your application will certainly make my site more appealing. Thank you in advance for any assistance here.

Please supply me a link to the site exhibiting the problem

opajaap, sorry thought I did so in my first message. it is:

    https://www.qianlidao.com.au

I’ve also just discovered on the album that doesn’t play the slideshow when you click on the link, that when I view the thumbnails and then left click on a photo, the slideshow bar will appear and then I can run the slideshow. On the album that works, the slideshow will begin by itself when one clicks on the slideshow link.

I get a timeout on the site

sorry, opajaap, what do you mean by a timeout?

That i could not get to the site, but it works now.

The number of photos is probably not a problem of the plugin, i have one with more than 400 photos that runs the slideshow without a problem.

Maybe the memory you are allowed to use at the server is a limiting factor. Check your wp-config.php for a line like define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M'); add it if it is not there, or increase the number if it is set to a smaller vallue than 64.

Set define('WP_DEBUG', true); in wp-config,php, this might give you an errormessage that makes things clear.

thanks, opajaap, I will try to get my computer-savvy helper to check out this possibility a bit later on. I am not computer-literate enough to do it myself, so he will try to effect this remedy soon when he is freed up from a project he is on.

I will let you know how it goes. Thank you.

hi, opajaap, sorry for the delay in replying on this post. as I said, I’m not really programming savvy and am new to the whole WordPress experience and my computer friend has been away. But I finally got brave enough to poke around my control panels and found the place to edit my wp-config.php file; added the memory limit line as you suggested and changed the DEBUG line to ‘true’. But it changed nothing. When I checked the error messages, there was none from WP Photo Album Plus at all.

I did find, however, that if I unchecked the ‘filmstrip navigator’ check box in the application’s settings, it allowed the slideshow in the first album to play straightaway. I now have three albums on the site, and they all will play, seemingly now without problems, in either the slideshow mode or just viewing individual photos manually.

It may be possible that there is a javascript error that causes the problem. If so, it will stop the js script executing and therefor not showing the photos.
As you are online now, please enable the filmstrip, so i can look into it.

have just enabled filmstrip function now

It looks to work fine now, but the center image of the filmstrip should match the fullsize photo. I hope Column width is NOT set to auto.

It also looks that the connection to the server is unstable, sometimes i wait forever on a next picture.

    I see no js errors.

If you can live without filmstrip, i suggest you turn it off again.

What is your wp rev? Preferrably 3.0 or higher

column width is set to 640 pixels, with height the same. I have noticed that sometimes it takes awhile for the photos to load, but once they do, it seems to run alright.

I can live without the filmstrip navigator. I just re-contacted you after trying your original suggestion, so that you might be able to use the information to work out any possible bugs.

    I am using rev 3.0.1
