    Hello,

    I hope you understand why I do not link to the page. All the direct link to the e-books in PDF format of a WooCommerce store can be found using Google search and can be downloaded. Not the same with the EPUB and MOBI files. Is this a problem of the plugin, or am I wrong somewhere? Anyway, I think that if I made a mistake, it have to be the same for EPUB and MOBI, but it is not.

    Thank you,

    Nicolae

    Hi @nsfetcu!

    All the direct link to the e-books in PDF format of a WooCommerce store can be found using Google search and can be downloaded. Not the same with the EPUB and MOBI files.

    Can you elaborate more on this question?

    As I understand, you were trying to set PDF files as downloadable files in your WooCommerce virtual products. Apparently your potential customers are able to find these PDF files in a Google search, but the EPUB and MOBI files cannot be found in the search, which you cannot find, correct?

    I’m not 100% certain how this is a WooCommerce problem, to be completely honest. Were you referring to the actual Virtual/Downloadable products you’ve created for these products? If you were referring to the files itself that you had uploaded, which don’t come up in search – I think this could be a WordPress problem.

    In any case, it would be great if you could share more details on this. We’d be happy to help!

    Hi,

    For the moment I added a htaccess with deny for all and there is no more possible to download it directly, so I can give you details.

    I used a WooCommerce store for e-books, where I uploaded files in PDF, EPUB and MOBI formats.

    I found out that when I search with Google for some of them, I find them with the direct link within the search results, and everyone can use that link to download it.

    For ex., If I search Google.ro with ”ghid wordpress pentru ?ncep?tori”, https://www.google.ro/search?q=ghid+wordpress+pentru+?ncep?tori, the title of one of my e-books, I find the direct link on the first page, on third position, https://www.setthings.com/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/2016/08/GhidWordressIncepatori.pdf, and it can be downloaded using that link (now it is no more possible, but it would be again possible if I remove the htaccess).

    I tried with other e-books and the results were the same. Also, when I used the direct link in other browser, without being authenticated to the site, I was able to download the PDFs, bit not the EPUB or MOBI formats.

    @nsfetcu,

    Pretty much anything on the internet can be downloaded if you can find a direct link to it unless you’re doing something to secure it.
