    Hi,

I’m afraid I can’t get WP Retina 2x (v0.4) to serve the hi-res pictures on my site at all. Even when I turn on client-side and activate the debug mode I still only get the normal res pictures.

I didn’t convert any pictures. In fact I’ve never used the wordpress upload feature. Instead I upload both normal and @2 pictures via FTP and embed them with simple

    <img title="a loaf of bread" src="files/tastybread.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="169" />

Concerning my set-up: Single site on my own server, the plug-in doesn’t have any ticks in Basics set, and right now only two ticks at Client side and Debug mode. I deactivated my caching plugin.

Does anyone know how I might get this to work?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hello,

If you don’t use the Media Manager, you can disable the Retina Column and Retina Dashboard, they are not required for you. You don’t need to tick or untick the image sizes neither.

Now, you said you uploaded @2 pictures? Shouldn’t it be “@2x” ? ??

If it is not working, please share your URL here, and I will check a few things.

    Hi,

thanks for helping and pointing that out. Indeed, it was just a stupid mistake. So then I renamed all hi-res pictures to …@2x.jpg and my layout totally exploded. So I guess it does work now. Then I put in width and height tags in all image links so everything looks ok again.

However it still seems to be a bit hit-and-miss. My website is here: https://bit.ly/RAMEZk The central picture (on the piano) seems to load the hi-res version. However the picture in the lower right corner is still lo-res (right now I’m on debug mode again). Same holds true for many other pictures on the site (see /grenzbereiche for instance), while those in the “live” tab and on /hoeren or /listen work beautifully.

Do you know what might be wrong with those image tags?

    Many thanks.

For me everything works, on main page the two images are in Retina (except the little social icons).

I tried the second page as well “H?ren”. Everything is in Retina except for “Uta Fricke Quartetts”. I tried to manually get the retina file that should be “https://www.johanneswilke.com/Dateien/[email protected]&#8221; but it doesn’t seem to exist. Then yeah, I think it works ??

Thanks for checking. It’s quite confusing. I had some issues with Firefox’s cache. Once I emptied it some pictures where shown with hi-res properties while others still only show as their normal size. However when I right-click Show Graphics I usually get the hi-res version.

So how do you check if everything works? Just so I can do it myself next time, too.

About the buttons: That’ll be my headache. The four of them are a single image spliced via CSS. So I suppose there won’t be any way to convert them as a single file and I’ll have to untangle them?

    Many thanks.

Caching issues… clear your browser cache, retry… the best is to try from a place + computer you never tried with ?? Apple Store?

Your website worked for me though.

The buttons will be a headache yes, you need to look online for some stuff about it probably. People do it via CSS usually…
