I’ve run into another problem. I have the plugin installed and working with this hack, but now when I go to generate retina images nothing happens when I click the generate button for an image.

One image that I’m using as a test is high resolution, and the plugin says it can generate the @2x images from it. But I click generate, it says “Please wait…” for a second, then goes back to saying generate with no apparent results.

This happens when I’m in the retina dashboard. If I’m in the media library and I click generate, it takes about the same amount of time – a split second – and displays the tick marker. But going back to the dash to verify this, it shows nothing different. I go back to the media library and sure enough, the tick is gone again.

I’m wondering if maybe this too has to do with my network installation? Instead of the default “wp-content/files” directory it’s “wp-content/blogs.dir/n/files” where “n” is a number representing a particular “site”.

I just realized that there is a bug in the Media Library. It would tell you if there is a major error (crash for instance), but it wouldn’t tell you anything if the original file was not big enough.

It “should” be okay even using a network WordPress. I am using the WordPress API for this plugin, there is no big dirty trick anywhere, so if there aren’t any bugs or tricky things in the WordPress API, I believe it should work. But of course I cannot be sure neither. You might be right too. Hmm.

Let’s start debugging this. Can you send me a screenshot of your Retina Dashboard? (I guess you can post it on this forum, via imgur for example)

Okay — I was just guessing, I’m no professional developer or anything. ??

    Here’s a screenshot.

Wahou! I have never seen such a lively dashboard! So many icons, so many colors! ??

But anyways, YOU ARE RIGHT. I can see it clearly here, the files are all missing, and the plugin cannot detect any of them. You are using only the “zombie” sizes, right?

There are two bugs on my side. First it displays the “clock” icon, but actually the plugin should be already aware that there is an issue and shows something else (something like a skull, haha) to avoid any miscomprehension. Then there is the bug related to the fact that it cannot find the real path to the file. And as you said, it’s probably linked to the network WordPress.

That’s not going to be very hard to resolve, but I think I will need a bit of your help. Do you mind contacting me by email? https://www.totorotimes.com/about. We’ll work on it together (should be fast), then I will release a new version on Monday including the fix. Thanks a lot ??

    Ya, 3.4 is pretty colorful!

Yeah, the Zombie sizes are custom sizes for the theme I’m working on. So you’re saying the plugin should show a different icon to let me know more about what’s happening?

If it’s having trouble finding the file then it’s probably relating to the network thing. I’m not totally sure how to clear it up — like I said, I’m still learning my way around WP — but I get the sense it shouldn’t be too difficult.

I’m definitely willing to help out — though there’s not too many users this seems like it could be a really great plugin! I’m looking forward to using it. But right now I need to get to bed — it’s 3am here. I’ll be back online in the ‘morning.’

Yeah don’t worry, we’ll find a way and I am sure it will be pretty easy to debug and fix. No problem, please come back tomorrow morning, and drop me a direct email ?? I live in Japan though, so I probably don’t have the same hours at all with you, but I’m sure we’ll find a way! Good night! ??

    Hi, Jordy,

Was just curious to know if there was a resolution for this issue. I’m experiencing it, as well.

If you need another “partner” for debugging and implementation, I’m happy to help. I’d like to resolve the issue so that I can use the plugin. ??

    Thanks!

Hello WeFormVoltron ?? Are you using a Network installation of WordPress as well?

    Yes. 3.4.1

    (@tigroumeow)

Alright. I installed the network version of WP. Indeed, there are issues, but it seems very close to be working. Give me a few hours, and I’ll be back with a solution and a new release ??

Great. Let me know if you need anything on my end. I’m in Germany, so my timezone might be a bit easier for you? (Not sure about Japan).

Problem is I am going out for diner now, so I’ll work on this tomorrow early morning (you might be still up though ^^). I’ll let you know ??

    Hey WeFormVoltron ??
Can you contact me directly by email? I have something for you to try. Strangely I don’t run into the same issues at all using a Network install of WP.

yes, but I need your email address.
