    Hi,

So far, it sure looks like a great plugin. Have you heard of any incompatibility with other plugins (except for Captchas)? I am quite fond of “paged comments” and I would rather keep it.

But I wish to modify the contact form, I get a field for phone (which I don’t want). I commented out lines 322 and 323 in wp-spamfree.php and the field doesn’t show on the form anymore. Now, I only have to find and comment out the related lines in the email form that is sent.

    Cheers,
    Gene

  • Hey Gene,

Thanks for your feedback. Other than front-end anti-spam plugins (CAPTCHAs etc as you mentioned), I don’t believe there are any major incompatibilities (however if anyone does find any, please let me know through the support form.)

The main focus of the plugin is to fight spam, so the contact form is meant to be a simple add-on for those who want a quick contact form that won’t get spammed. Unfortunately, I can’t spend a lot of time on adding configuration options, but I’ll see about quickly adding some basic options.

@raygene: Just added a few basic configuration options. You can choose whether or not to include Phone and Website fields and whether they should be required. You can also set the width of the Message box.

    LOL! That was quick, thanks!

Out of curiosity, are you using a modified version of this contact form on your site? I like the idea of the drop-down list in the subject field for the “tabloid” type of blog/site I’m doing for a client (political party). If so, would you mind sending me that part of the code and I’ll just do the changes I have to.

BTW, sorry to be off-topic, my main reason for installing the plugin is to cut spam down to a minimum but I can’t seem to find any other contact form plugin that doesn’t have some kind of spam protection (captcha or question based).

    Cheers,
    Gene

Never mind the above post about drop-downs, I looked at your contact form once more and it’s the standard one. I guess I must have seen it on another plugin author’s page.

I assume that the phone field could be use for other purposes by simply changing the string text in the wp-spamfree file?

Hey Gene. Email me and I’ll try to help you do what you like. If we can let’s try to make it an addition to the plugin so everyone can benefit from it. ??
