[Plugin: WP Table of Contents] great plugin and a couple suggestions …
-
Hi – i was testing out a variety of table of content plugins and i think yours is one of the best thus far … wanted to share the following as fyi to maybe consider down the road …
a) minimized jquery … i was testing jquery from cdn vs having it on my site when i learned the new minimized version 1.6.2 is like 30k vs the full version of 1.3.2 which was like 123k … thus might want to update your link to this ->
$wp_icindekiler["jquery_file"] = 'https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js';
b) adding a counter to prevent a table of contents with only one h2 … during my tests i wanted to see what would happen if i only had one h2 element on a post or page that has your php if function exists … thus turns out that if just one h2 tag is there, then indeed the Table of Contents appears but it looks a bit silly if there is only one h2 and a short post that is above the fold … thus not sure if there is a way you can count how many h2 tags are on a page and/or create a setting that says “only show toc if there are more than x-heading tags” … this way, a blog owner might want to set it so only after 4 or more h2 tags are part of a post then the table of contents appears ..??..
c) show / hide sprite … again, not sure this is possible but would be pretty cool if instead of showing the words “show/hide” that if the table was shown, just the word “[hide]” would appear and ditto on reverse, if the table is not shown, then just the word “[show]” appears … maybe even a simple graphic with arrow to open and arrow to close that corresponds to the hide / show …
all of which are minor points but wanted to share in case plugin author(s) said “hmmm. double hmmm. maybe … ” …
thanks again for awesome work and to be continued :>) cordially, chuck scott
ps – i tested this on a subsite on a WP Multisite 3.2 network
