    Hi, Tobias:

Thanks for a very useful plugin.

Just sent you day before yesterday, Bullpen Gospels, from you Amazon.de selection, that you should receive over the weekend. Please let me know if there are any problems receiving it. You can reach me at [ redacted support is offered via the forum and not email ]

P.S.: I have been unable to archive my tables, via the “Export a dump file” in plugin options. It does not say its done, and when I check the file named ‘download’ that it seems to have created, it does not seem to have any of the info from my tables. FYI – I have over 200 tables, each an average of 20kb or so, if that matters.

    Regards,

    Manish

    Hi Manish,

I just received the book yesterday, thank you very much! This is really very nice!

That issue with the Dump file sounds weird. Likely, some limit like the PHP memory limit or the maximum execution time was reached there.
Can you maybe look for clues on this in the PHP server error logs?

    Thanks again!

    Hi, Tobias:

    You are welcome!

Regarding the error, I got this response when I tried to export a dump file:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 263450 bytes) in /home/content/73/7954473/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-table-reloaded/controllers/controller-admin.php on line 1069

Hope this tells you something on what I can do to still be able to export it. Also, I am not as tech-savvy, so I don’t know how i can even access PHP server error logs; however, FYI – I am hosting the site via a hosting services company, so I am not even sure that I would have access to that.

Also, just for my information, would the export dummp file still be critical if my hosting company (and I) are backing up entire wordpress installation?

    Hi,

thanks a lot for posting this error message! Yes, this helps greatly already!
Basically, what happens: Due to the size and number of tables, the available PHP memory is not sufficient. There is fortunately a way to increase that. Please try following the instructions at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP and try setting WP_MEMORY_LIMIT to 128M or even 256M, and then try again with the Dump File.

For those error logs: You probably don’t have direct access to these, but your web host company would probably find relevant entries for you. However, that is no longer necessary here, fortunately.

And yes, the Dump File is not that critical if you regularly back up the entire WordPress installation. That is, only if that backup contains a full mySQL database backup. With the Dump File, things are just easier to restore, in case something is wrong.

    Tobias

    Hi, Tobias:

I just changed to a different host that specializes in WordPress, namely WP-Engine. And they said that they would most likely ‘ban’ the WP Tables and TablePress plugins soon as, if I understood them correctly, “it writes to the database directly” – not sure if i am paraphrasing them correctly. But they have security concerns that is most likely going to prompt them to take that step.

I have been very pleased with the plugin, and use it to drive a major portion of my site. I know that WP-Engine offers to first work with the plug-in developer to sort the issue, before they ban it.

I have to make a decision of whether to go ahead with the plugin on the new host or not. Could you offer some guidance. First, is it correct that it writes directly, or accesses, the database correctly? Two, does their interpretation make sense, and if not, and (this maybe too much to ask), could you reach out to them to rectify their understanding (their website is wwww.wpengine.com). And three, if none of these will work, can you think of an alternative plugin that has functionality similar to yours.

    Thanks,

    Manish
