I have a table with >1,000 entries. I can import it okay but any time I try to change anything on it e.g. the name of the table or to uncheck the boxes that enable pagination by the user the plugin hangs and I get taken to a blank screen.

Initially I found that I also had this problem with smaller tables of 10 rows but I was able to fix that by changing themes. However I have tried the larger table with 3 themes and can not get it to stop automatically displaying only the first 10 lines. I have tried to change the box under the table where you specify the default number of lines to display but once again it hangs.

Is there any work around for this? I’d like the table to initially display all the listings

    Thanks!

Oops sorry the heading should say it’s failing with long tables not last tables!!!

It seems that any sort of editing of the table causes it to fail. The updates aren’t saved and it hangs with a blank screen.

P.S. I have tried editing the tables using Firefox and IE but it doesn’t appear to make a difference. The number of records seems to be the problem

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

Due a change in the default configuration of recent versions of PHP, saving large tables can indeed cause troubles.
I don’t have an immediate fix for this in WP-Table Reloaded, unfortunately. However, I’m currently working on the official and designated successor of WP-Table Reloaded, called TablePress. TablePress uses a new saving mechanism that is not prone to these problems. I therefore recommend that you switch to TablePress, which you can get at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/tablepress/ . You can find additional information about making the switch at https://tablepress.org/migration-from-wp-table-reloaded/

In TablePress, you should be able to make changes to the table again (although it might feel slow for a large table as you have it). You will also be able to set the options like pagination and the number of shown rows.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you so much for responding! I will organise the migration to TablePress and I may look at changing themes too as the theme I have seemed to cause problems editing the smaller tables too.

TablePress looks very sophisticated, and it looks like the Search box sits more naturally with a space above it. Fun times!!!

Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these plugins. I will make a donation today. Your tables save me a lot of trouble (or will do when I get this large table to behave itself)

I migrated the files to TablePress without a hitch and the tables display fine.

If I use the pagination option the arrows (next previous) don’t align but I don’t think I will use them so it’s not a problem.

I just sent you a PayPal donation. It’s a strange amount because it’s the balance of my PayPal account. Thanks for all your help!

    Hi,

thanks again for your donation here! ?? It’s really very nice!

And great to hear that the migration went so fine! Have fun with the plugin then! ??

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
