  • I think it would be much better if we could simply load the default Media Uploader from WordPress rather than try to replace it with other upload systems that require tons of dev and come with obvious compatibility issues.

Hello everyone, who are having problems with featured images and attachments, that aren’t working under wp user frontend:
I’d the same problems until I activated those functions in my wp theme (Mantra). Little thing – big consequences. My advice for you: Check this first.

And what did you do lowerpower?
If you shared your solution, it would be a great help for others here.
    Me especially… Thanks

    Hi Ellsweb,

at this moment my latest project is only in a development phase. But I guarantee you, I’ll keep you informed when my client will set these project to an official status. That might be in the upcoming week. Till then, lp.

    Hi Lowerpower

You could share what you did without giving away your project, that would help alot of people

    Thanks,

    Ian

    Hello Applegateian,
I do what i can. The best is the code, given from the programmer like Tareq. The rest are the settings. So if someone has an affort in those things that I adjusted, I give it away. And if my project’s going online, i’ll keep you informed about that example. Any questions left:?)

FWIW – I found a solution that works for me.
It does a lot more than I was hoping for but it also solves the upload problem I was having. If someone decides to use the “fork” there is an issue with WordPress showing a notification to upgrade the plugin. In the wpuf.php it will show “version 1.1-fork-2RRR-4.0”. Therefore, www.ads-software.com thinks the fork is an earlier version of the WP User Frontend.

I simply moved the “-fork-2RRR-4.0” to the description so that it shows “This is fork-2RRR-4.0 by Professor99 which includes a downgrade function to retun to the original author’s version if this fork does not work the way you want it to.” and the WordPress upgrade notification no longer happens because the only thing that shows on the “version” line is 1.1 (which is the current version of WP User Frontend (at the time of this posting)).

I have an active site that I needed a solution for and the fork offered by professor99 works for me. I thought I would share it.

Here is the link in the support forum for the fork of WP User Frontend.
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/frontend-updates-2rrr-fork

I hope this helps someone else.

I’ve given up. Been asking for 6 months so I am now using ACF https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/ plugin and styling the backend for users. It’s a lot easier.

    Hi applegateian,

I’ll give that a look as well. I looked at the tutorial and it seems a lot of custom setting up. I don’t like having to edit the theme functions.php file to get a plugin to work.

But, I am open to it using a child theme if it is worth the trouble.

There are some things I would like to do that the ACF plugin might make possible, but for what I use the WP User Frontend for, it is working quite well with a small glitch printing the contents of one of the labels. But that’s minor and I can fix that. The main thing is the uploads and featured image problems, that the fork seems to have fixed.

@tareq – your plugin is amazing. Did you had a chance to look at this issue?

@all – any new solutions re problem with uploading images? I have the same issue. using wp 3.5 and plugin 1.1

@lowerpower – how is your project? it would be great to post your code here. no one will know ?? and we’ll all be very thankful

    Cheers all,
    Dean

Hi, I just installed the plugin, as an admin I can upload images, but as author gives me an error when uploading. I’m using wp 3.5
Any idea on how to solve this?

    Hi sushidread,

what about your wp uf settings? Who’s your post author and have you enabled ‘featured image upload’ (both under ‘Frontend Postings’)?

    What’s the error message saying?

    Greetings,lp.
