Plugins and Themes update problem

  • Using WP 3.5.1

    I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

    I’m talking about multisite here.

    When I get notification of updates needed, Plugins or themes, if I attempt to use the “Updates” option for all updates plugins and themes do not get updated. The first update starts, with the little spinner thing spinning for eternity. For (it seems like ever) the maintenance message appears on the site until I delete the .maintenance file out of my hosting account.

    However, if I go to installed plugins or themes and click on the “update now” link, the update is quick and complete.

    Is there a bug in the available updates (update core) that available updates uses? I notice that it WP seems to use a different process for updating through the available updates than it does when going to the installed themes and plugins and updating individually through there.

    I forgot to mention, the installs are on linux centos server, now windows.
    Any help out there?
