Plugins are not showing in the admin, yet does show in my FTP?

    Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to resolve this problem I’m having with this WordPress site..

    Basically this website was on WordPress 3-point-something up until today when I updated it to the latest version, 4.2.4.

    A few plugins have expectedly shat themselves and are no longer working, – (they are all updated too), however, only 4 plugins show up in the admin area of the site, but when I look on the FTP, they’re all installed (there’s 10 plugins overall)?

    I’ve looked at the permissions for the individual plugin folders and for the select plugins that are working, the level is the highest 777, but the permission level for those plugins that aren’t showing is 755… I’ve tried changing the permission level but throws up an error code saying (in my FTP) that ‘permission denied’.

    Any ideas of what I can do further from here to get these plugins to work again?
