• Hi,

    Very much a noob here. I was able to get WordPress working on my site, but I am not sure I did it correctly. The good news is that I can post, others can post and the dashboard works.

    Now, I tried use a couple of plugins but when I upload them to my blog they never appear in the plugins dashboard.

    I entered the path to one of the files in the plugin directory to see if I could see it and it shows up fine

    Any ideas why I can not see any of the plugins I have uploaded?

    I am using WP 2.1 and the plugins I am trying to get working are

    quicktime-embed
    wp-phpmyadmin

    Any help would be appreciated

  • If necessary, change the permissions on wp-content and wp-content/plugins to 777.

    Doing something wrong? Using FileZilla I right clicked on wp-content and wp-content/plugins and selected “file attibutes” and entered “Numeric Value” as 777. It was 000. Looking at it again it did not seem to save because it was back to 000 when I checked.

    I am using godaddy for web hosting…could there be an issue with that?

    Also, when I logged into the dashboard and went to Manage —-> Files the right hand has the name of some files as follows
    1. Main Index Template
    2. my-hacks.php (legacy hacks support)
    3. .htaccess (for rewrite rules )
    4. plugins
    5. Stylesheet

    Common

    * Main Index Template
    * .htaccess (for rewrite rules )
    * my-hacks.php (legacy hacks support)

    But when I highlight them I get the following message:

    Oops, no such file exists! Double check the name and try again, merci.

    Any ideas?

    Humm. I also noticed that when I go to plugin editor I get the following message

    Oops, no such file exists! Double check the name and try again, merci.
