I am getting 404 errors whenever I try to go to install plugins, or the themes page, or the update-core pages
    ex:
    /plugin-install.php – Error 404

    Steps I have taken:
I removed all the plugins manually in my cPanel file manager
this allowed me to at least go to the plugins page, but when I click add-new i get the 404 error

I have confirmed that the files (/plugin-install.php) are present and with correct permissions (644)

I have also tried installing a fresh version of WP in a new database and new directory, and replace all the files in the current /wp directory (except wp-config.php and the /wp-content folder)

    Still getting the 404 errors
could this be a server side issue?

    the site is https://www.laaviators.com

Thank you for your help, and let me know if you need any more information
    David

  • Hey David,

Have you logged into the FTP server and checked to see that the plugin files are present in /wp-admin ?

You should also be aware some plugins of WP 3.8 are not compatible with PHP 5.4, as this seems to be a common issue I see with people getting 404 pages regarding plugin related problems.

You are referring to the /public_html/wp/wp-admin/plugin-install.php, correct?

Yes I have confirmed that, as well as coping in a new one from the manual install.

I have removed all the plugins from the /plugins folder to rule out compatibility issues as well
