Since this last WP update when I update multiple plugins my site goes into maintenance mode and stays there. I have to delete the maintenance file. Updating the plugins one at a time is the only way I can update them.

Don’t have that issue with officewife.biz, theme is 2014.

Does happen in reptilesnrodents.com theme is 2014.

Does not matter which plugins, happens when I do a batch update. Different plugins every time.

Not sure what help I could use. Won’t try the multiple update for plugins again, unless this is a bug? Is that where I need to post this?

    Thank you.

  • While your plugins are updating (not completed) it will show the message, “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”

    According to WordPress FAQs

As part of the automatic upgrade WordPress places a file named .maintenance in the blog base folder (folder that contains the wp-admin folder). If that file exists, then vistors will see the message Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

To stop that message from being displayed to vistors, just delete the .maintenance file. The automatic upgrade should be executed again, just in case it failed.

Note the core automatic upgrade feature was added with Version 2.7.

Thank you for providing me the information I already had. I am not sure what the issue is? Mine in communicating the problem? Perhaps.

I know all that you provided. I said the issue is it gets stuck in maintenance mode when updating multiple plugins. I have to delete the maintenance file. The install the updates one at a time.

There is nothing I found that explains this issue.

I also said I will continue to update one plugin at a time so I don’t have this problem again. That it does not matter which plugins it is, it continues to happen since the last update.

Thank you again for attempting to help.
