Most likely. But if something really bad happens and it gets worse then you’ll still want that backup.

    k..

i also have backup from 2-3 months ago. is it possible to maybe use some of those files to bring the site back?

That’s a definite “maybe” with a side order of “why not?”

Do you have access to your web server’s file system with FTP or via some other method?

If so, try renaming your /global/ directory to /global-something-else/ and restore your file backup.

I tell you three times: backup your files and database, backup your files and database, backup your files and database.

It’s not enough to just get your files, all the real content for your WordPress installation is stored in your database. Make sure you have a complete copy of the database as well as the files. Store those backups somewhere else and off of your server.

No joke, I keep the last 30 days on a separate server and can restore any of the backups onto the real server or somewhere else is less than 30 minutes. My data is valuable to me and once you lose it it’s gone for good.

Hi Jan, just a quick question

Is it a good idea to backup the files and database to a folder in local server only, or it’s a must to keep separate backups ready somewhere else?

Rajat@WP please start your own topic. It’s considered impolite to interrupt someone else’s topic like that, and your question does nothing to contribute to solving the OPs problem.

Fantastic! That’s really good and those links I posted above are now working.

Now, I am not trying to be pedantic or add any gloom and doom to your good mood. But you really want to get in the habit of making routine file and database backups.

You performed a bulk plugin upgrade and Very Bad Things Happened™. Having the ability to just put it all back to “just before” is a great safety net and could save you hours of effort in the future.
