Plugin/shortcode to count/display #of times audio file has been played

Hello,

I’ve done exhausted research for years trying to find a plugin or shortcode that simply counts the number of times an audio file has been played then displays that number where you specify. IE. Placing [count_audio] in a page or post.

So it would look like:

“Click to listen!” (Url to mp3 file here)
“Number of plays: 127

Granted such a plugin or shortcode wouldn’t be able to properly count since some users will click stop before it plays all the way through, but it would be better than nothing.

Anyone know of a plugin or hack of an existing plugin that would do this?
