    hi

i see this message for some days and i don’t if it’s for me or it’s showing in all sites that use ultimatemember

We highly recommend using a?child-theme?for Ultimate Member customization, which hasn’t dependencies with the official themes repo, so your custom files cannot be rewritten after a theme upgrade.
Otherwise, the customization files may be deleted after every theme upgrade.’

can you tell me what customization is need the child theme? as i have css for color, and i added some code for another plugin in the forms and used ultimate member form to edit it and add some more sections there in the form..

does that need a child theme?

    about polylang

i used it newly and added another 2 languages to my site, which i already translated plugins and theme in loco translate

i see in polylang.. in the othe language,, that the forms use the language i have translated with loco

not the one in other languages… which english one of the,, but it;s not showing

any clue why the forms aren’t translated there, and how i can make them translated?

    thanks

    Hello @majito

You have to use a child-theme if you want to add files to the theme folder or modify existing files in the theme folder. For example, you’ll add custom template files to the theme folder if you want to customize templates. Or you may add custom PHP code to the functions.php file in the theme to customise functionality. There are various cases when you need to add/modify files in your theme. But the theme folder will be replaced on the theme update and all your changes (added and modified files) will be lost.

The child-theme mechanism solves this problem. When WordPress requests a file from the theme and child theme exists WordPress searches for the needed file in the child theme first. If a needed file exists it will be taken from the child theme. If the needed file does not exist it will be taken from the parent (original) theme. Files in the child theme will not be replaced on the theme update.

Ultimate Member displays the notice if there are custom template files in the original theme folder.

Have you created pages and forms for each language as described in documentation? See https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1449-how-to-translate-plugin#forms
