PNG to JPG don't work

If the file is not more efficient as a JPG, it will not be converted. Can you link to a couple sample PNGs so I can test them on my dev server?

Please post your plugin status section, and debugging information from the settings page, just so we can rule out the prime suspects.

Can you provide direct links to a couple of the original PNG files? I want to take a look at those just to see if there is anything unusual.

Well, it isn’t something with the images, because they convert just great on my dev site. I get savings of 80% or higher on all 3 with JPG.

I had a suspicion about Imagemagick, and as it turns out, I don’t have Imagemagick on my dev box. So I installed it, and saw the same exact behavior that you are getting.

As you suggested, it is indeed an issue with the name of the files. If the locale for php is not set properly, the escapeshellarg() function will strip out any special characters/accents. I can think of three options, not all of them are feasible:

1. get rid of escapeshellarg(), since we are only dealing with filenames anyway.

2. fix the locale on the user side – not always possible in shared hosting environments.

3. attempt to set a locale that will work for everyone – don’t think this is even possible, as some systems won’t even let you do that.

I think the only viable solution is #1. I’ve done some looking through the code, and the escapeshellarg() calls seem a bit redundant, since we already know that the file in question exists, and we are not dealing with anything that could be mangled by a user here.
