PO files

Are Dutch and German PO files somewhere available?
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

There are two places to check:
* The plugin’s local
/languages/
folder* The public translate page
If you don’t find it in either of those places it does not yet exist.
Jeff, of course I am talking about such files for your SAC. ??
And I asked, because perhaps someone already did a translation.
I tried myself, but can’t get the %s correct. I suppose, that ‘s’ is making minute, hour, day plural, but in German and Dutch these plurals don’t end at ‘s’.
Or, perhaps, it means something complete different.
Anyway, I need PO files in German and Dutch for your SAC and, looking at the public page, they don’t exist publicly.Someone here who made it for themselves?

Have you tried using a plugin such as Loco Translate to make the translation? I use it to manage all the default translation templates. Makes it pretty easy to translate just about anything.
Yes, exactly I tried it with Loco Translate. But I’m hanging on the time code %s. It makes plural in German and Dutch silly.
Hmm.. maybe there is an alternate way of doing it, maybe some other plugin? Or is it an issue with SAC internationalization?
I don’t know whether it is a sac issue.
I’ll ask about this PO translation in a Facebook forum for all about WordPress, including plugins. Many specialists participate there. I’ll come back here if I get a solution.OK sounds like a plan. Let us know if you find any solution, or if SAC needs any modification. Glad to make any necessary changes to support translation.
Hi Jeff,
here are remarks I got so far ….
From the Loco Translate support:
“A quick look at the source code shows that “%s” is replaced with the return value from a function called “sac_time_since” which does not implement translatable plural forms correctly. This is the author’s responsibility to fix.”
From different WordPress specialists is several groups…..
“The “%s” does not work correct in a multilingual environment, it only works for English”.
“This way of the time variable is kept simple and short, for a multilingual site it needs to be changed. It does not take in account that, for example, that the English plural terms weeks, days, hours, minutes are in German: Wochen, Tage, Stunden, Minuten. In other languages it differs again.”
I did not get really programming suggestions though.
Kind regards,
GunivortusThanks this is great infos, will implement a solution next possible update. Feel free to post again with any further infos, etc.
Hey @gunivortus01, can you let me know specifically which text strings you’re having issue with? The phrases
%s
andsac_time_since
are used numerous times in the plugin for different purposes, so trying to search and find the code that needs resolved is not yielding any results. If you can let me know which text strings and where they are located (e.g., the settings page or the chat form, etc.), that will enable me to locate the problematic code and get this fixed up asap. Thank you.Hi Jwff,
most prominently it concerns what is visible at the front-end, particularly the sentence:
Latest Message: 4 days, 23 hours ago
See for Dutch and German:
https://chaosowl.net/sac-german.jpg
https://chaosowl.net/sac-dutch.jpg
In German it shows:
Letzte Nachricht: vor 4 Tags, 23 Stundes
This has to be:
Letzte Nachricht: vor 4 Tage, 23 Stunden
In Dutch it shows:
Laatste bericht 4 dags, 23 uurs geleden
and it should be:
Laatste bericht 4 dagen, 23 uur geledenAnd here
https://chaosowl.net/sac-german2.jpg
You’l see the respective translations in Loco-Translate.Hope, this helps.
I have restricted myself so far to the parts that are visible at my sac-windows.
After the problem is solve,d I will of course translate it all into the two other languages.Kind regards,
GunivortusYes that should do the trick, thank you.
