I’m excited to see an active plugin based on Drupal’s station module. In the old Drupal module, you could use streamripper + a cronjob to automatically archive your station’s program audio into RSS feeds associated with the various shows.

Is there a way to replicate that functionality with this module? Or, is it planned in the future?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the question. The answer is yes, we are planning on adding a recording function for the station to convert “Episodes” into audio archives. This will have a dependency on connecting to Amazon, Digital Ocean, or Google cloud storage options. We have to assess the logic in a freemium model, We may only provide a mechanism to record up to 30 minutes of a show in the Free version and add an unlimited recording to the forthcoming PRO version. But we haven’t crossed that bridge yet. We expect to get there sometime in the late summer. But it’s on your list of things to do.

@jrtemper1 Are there are any resources you can point to (tutorials, forum posts etc.) that would have directions on doing this with streamripper?
This might help us not to “re-invent the wheel” so to speak when it does come time to getting to this kind of feature.

@majick Sure, here’s the setup guide for the old Drupal module: https://www.drupal.org/node/85842

And the archives of the code itself: https://www.drupal.org/project/station

As you can see, development fizzled out in the 7.x dev phase, but back in the Drupal 6 days this was a very nice, useful module! It would be great to see this functionality in a supported platform.

Thanks @jtremper1. I’m sure @majick will take this information and run through it to see what we can glean from it.

We have some folks pushing us to revive the Drupal version over in OpenCollective, but we need to take so many steps before even considering that effort.
