  • Hi there,

Thank you for using Seriously Simple Podcasting.

I have taken a look at your link provided regarding feedvalidator.org when I enter the URL in question directly, I see it gets redirected to a cloud hosted service https://d222gts509lg0m.cloudfront.net....

This could possibly be an issue with feedvalidator.org as it redirects.

I am going to ask our developers to test this further and see if we can recreate the issue on our end.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi there, I am having the exact same issue.

    Castfeedvalidator works (link)

…but feedvalidator.org consistently shows “Server returned timed out”

I will say that everything was working well at one point, until it stopped working almost overnight (I suspect something to do with a WordPress update?).

iTunes won’t accept a submission unless it passes feedvalidator.org.

    Thanks!

@mintyproperties, I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re having.

Did you notice that this fails only after updating to the latest version?

Are you running any firewall/security plugins that may be blocking external sites pinging yours?

There is an issue between feedvalidator and your site.

I will see if I can recreate this issue on my end.

    @andrewza Thanks for the support.

This started happening before the WordPress update, and I pushed the update thinking that was the issue to no avail.

I’m not running any firewall/security plugins to my knowledge, and if I was, they weren’t giving me any issues in the past as I haven’t changed anything.

Let me know if you have any additional suggestions. Thanks again.

I think moving forward would you be able to test the following –

    * Set your theme to the default TwentySeventeen (or similar) theme.
    * Temporarily deactivate all plugins except SSP

Retest to see if the error continues.

Do you have any other website using SSP that you can also test this on, so we may rule out that it’s not site specific?

If this still doesn’t work, I would suggest in reaching out directly to feedvalidator over at https://groups.google.com/group/feedvalidator-users and see if anyone has experienced this issue – I assume it is a server issue but will only be able to confirm this once further testing has been done.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
