Hello lovely Castos/Seriously Simple Podcasting support team,

I apologise if this is a silly question, because I do realise there are a number of reasons why the media player does not work. In fact, I read through this article and was able to debug it once (when I had Bluehost): https://support.castos.com/article/160-podcast-episodes-will-not-play.

I don’t remember what I did recently to cause the player to stop working on my page https://lingosing.com/listen/, but it has stopped working! I tried turning off SSL, adding /*podcast* to the exclude list of my caching, but it still doesn’t work ??

I was wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction to help me to debug this issue (including if there is guidance in previous posts on this forum).

    Many thanks!

Hi all, I tried again and it appears if I use an anonymous window, then it works! Maybe it just took some time for the caching/SSL settings to reload.

    Many thanks!

    Hi @lingosing,

Sorry to hear you encountered an error. Here are two potential issues that might be causing it:

    1. JavaScript Error on Page Load:
      • Error Message: Uncaught SyntaxError: return not in function
      • File: https://lingosing.com/wp-content/plugins/pmpro-limit-post-views/js/pmprolpv.js?ver=1.0
    2. JavaScript Error on Play Button Click:
      • Error Message: Failed to load 'https://lingosing.com/podcast-player/3926/test-episode.mp3'. A ServiceWorker passed an opaqueredirect Response to FetchEvent.respondWith() while handling a non-navigation FetchEvent.
      • File: https://lingosing.com/pwa-sw.js
      • This error likely prevents the audio file from being loaded.

To resolve these issues, you can take the following steps:

    1. Investigate the pwa-sw.js File: Determine where the pwa-sw.js file comes from. If it’s custom, review the code to identify any issues. If it’s from a plugin, check the plugin settings or documentation for any troubleshooting tips.
    2. Check the PMPro Script: Check the return not in function error in the pmprolpv.js file and consider reaching out to their support team for assistance.

    Best regards,
    Serhiy.
