• I’m new to creating a website, so forgive me if there’s an obvious answer to this question but:

I want to post long audio files (class lectures) on my blog; my host (Blue Host) can support large files, but it looks like Word Press can only upload 8MB files. I know that I could split up my longer files into separate clips and upload accordingly. But is there another solution that I’m not thinking of? Is there a way to post them, somehow, with my host and then link to it through Word Press?

Again, all of this is new to me, so I’m just guessing. Thanks for any and all help!

  • couple of options. First you could see if you have the option to increase your upload limit. A lot of hosts allow it, you just have to do a bit of research. I’m on godaddy, and using a php.ini file I was able to raise my limits.

The problem you may run into, even with increased upload limits…large files still won’t work. Connections time out, etc. When I am at home, I can’t upload large files through my browser. But at work I can. It gets unpredictable with large files.

So, I use ftp. If you don’t know how to use ftp, look into it. It’s very simple. I use filezilla, its free. I ftp all my DJ mixes to a music folder on my server and link with my podcasting plugin. (I use powerpress)
