Podcasts and WordPress Archives

How do you configure the rss syndication feed so that my podcasts (which are listed in among my blog entries) remain available in the feed even if all of the other blog entries become archived? All of my podcast shows have their own category called ‘podcast’.

Because WP seems to archive the blog entries I want to ensure that the podcast shows themselves are always available (iTunes seems to follow the rss list and if they are archived then it drops the show entry).

If I use the ?feed=podcast instead of the ?feed=rss2 then I seem to get all of the posted shows… is this the only way to do it? Apple isn’t very flexible on updating feed information.
