    Hi All,

I have an old HTML website currently up and running – I’ve since purchased some new hosting, installed WordPress and am ready to point my domain to the new WordPress website.

Do I point the domain before going into Settings > General and changing “WordPress Address” & “Site Address (URL)”? Or do I change these first and then point the domain?

    Thanks

Either way will work. Once you change the name servers it can take some time. I think I would make the WP changes at first.

You will need to point the domain at your hosting first to even get the option of logging into > settings > General, but if you have set it up right then when you bought the hosting and gave your domain name and installed wordpress to that domain then you won’t need to change anything under settings unless you want the www. and not the root domain or you want wordpress in a sub directory.
