Pointing 2 Domains to same wordpress install for WPML
-
I have WPML for translation of my site. I want to use differnt URLs for the two languages. Both URLs point to the same wordpress installation and database, but WMPL directs to the appropriate url through the plugin.
e.g
https://www.english.com has the english
https://www.italian.com has the italianWPML have a how to do this, but it requires access to virtual servers, which my host (hostpapa) does not allow on my hosting package, they of course suggest I upgrade at 10 times the price of my current hosting plan, but this is not a commercial enterprise so I cannot do that.
So I am having trouble getting the domains to work pointing to the same installation and database through my control panel, this is what I have done so far and what is not working!
1. I have wordpress instaled on https://www.english.com using server folder english.com.
2. I have https://www.italian.com domain defaulting to using the folder english.com on the server.
This creates error 500 – internal server error and https://www.italian.com does not show any data from wordpress.
I am not overly techie (not an idiot either), however I know there is something else I will need to set up to make https://www.italian.com be able to acceess the english.com wordpress data, but I have no idea what!
Can anyone help me on this one.
To be clear, the end result should be that by typing in https://www.italian.com/page1 I will see the data the same as https://www.english.com/page1, but the url will remain as https://www.italian.com/page1
They will use the same theme and the same data, so changes in one will reflect in both.Clear as mud??!
Thank you all for any help.
Alex
