Polylang and All in One Seo Pack sitemap

We have an issue open in Github for improving compatibility with Polylang (https://github.com/semperfiwebdesign/all-in-one-seo-pack/issues/941). We’ll look at improving this in a future release.

I faced the same problem using All in One SEO and Polylang, the xml sitemap is only generated in the default language (German), not for the English pages, which are provided in the subdirectory ./en/ .

It would be fine, if the xml sitemap extension of All in One SEO would generate language specific sitemaps. Hope, the developers will find a solution, because it’s quite comfortable, that the plugin includs a sitemap generator. Because Polylang is a quit popular multilang plugin and it works fine with All in One SEO for editing meta data, it would be nice, if sitemap also works.

Could anyone recommend an alternative xml sitemap plugin, which I could use till the native All in One SEO sitemap works again?

My manual workaround for this problem (on another site) was to use a free xml sitemap generator and upload the sitemap via FTP in the root directory of the website (to avoid conflicts with the autogenerated sitemap by All in One SEO I would recommend to deactivate the sitemap extension in this case.)

Whats with other multilanguage plugins? Do they work properly with All in One SEO?

I’ve made some research and find out that it happens because of setting aiosp_sitemap_rewrite.
When it’s turned on there is no translations in the sitemap.xml, but when I disable it – they all appear!

So in other words, this setting is “Dynamically Generate Sitemap [checkbox]” in All in one SEO > Sitemap XML > Sitemap XML.

Uncheck it to include translated pages in sitemap.xml.

A year has passed, but no progress on this feature. I have the same issue with the dynamic sitemap. I can not turn on a static sitemap because PHP is not allowed to write files.

@alexpravdin We have an issue open https://github.com/semperfiwebdesign/all-in-one-seo-pack/issues/941 and it’s current scheduled for the next major release. Hopefully it will be out in 3.3.

I’m already forgot about this issue, but suddenly review my sitemap.xml and do a google search and get here to my post ??

So the update is coming as I understand, because it’s already taken a lot of time.

I have All in one and Polylang installed. I hate Yoast and I wanted to keep All in one at all cost. So I disabled the XML sitemap feature of all in one and I have installed: the plugin “Google XML Sitemaps”
There is one main sitemap, with all the posts organized in sub sitemaps by date. In those sitemaps, you will find all your posts whatever the language organized by date.
No worries about hreflang, polylang takes care about it.

You don’t need to create a sitemap by language. It does not make any difference. Your URL makes the difference.

@bloup thanks for your solution. It’s interesting that it’s 1.5 year already passed since this topic was created and still no solution from plugins authors.

You mean that there is no reason to add all the languages to the sitemap because the links are in the <link alternate hreflang> tag?

Imagine you have 4 languages: (de,fr,en,es).
Some people would like to have a sitemap like:
https://domain.com/ru/sitemap.xml (with posts in russian)
https://domain.com/fr/sitemap.xml (with posts in french)
…

It is useless to do so. One sitemap with all the de,fr,en,es posts will suffice. Google checks the last modification date and this is the most important for anyone.

@bloup Oh, yeah, I get it. Of course I didn’t mean that – it’s not necessary and even uncomfortable.

This topic is created just to add all the langs into one sitemap.xml file ??

@bloup WP Core sitemap (ie: actually plugin) + polylang + AIOSEO (sitemap disable) = All language in an unique sitemap ?
