    Hello… my name is Paulo Galindro and i am a professional illustrator from Portugal. I’m currently using your plugin to turn my portfolio website (https://www.paulogalindro.com) into a multilingual site (portuguese and english).

    First of all congratulations for this plugin… for me, is clearly the best one. Ant the simplest… which is very important to me.

    For my website, i’m using the Mindful theme, the i’ve buyed from https://www.themetrust.com. The process of translation is almost complete, but for now, i have a few questions to make it work better:

    a) The Mindful theme allows me to use one static page, with a slide show, a welcome message and a Recent Projects grid. Is there any way to translate this static homepage, and his welcome message / “Recent Projects” title into the two languages above mentioned? Currently, if i change, for exemple, the welcome message, this changes affects all the 2 languages. The same to “Recent projects” title. What can i do?

    b) How can i translate de website footer message (“Proibida a reprodu??o total ou parcial sem a prévia autoriza??o do autor”). Actually, if i change it, this change affects all the languages.

    c) The flag is currently a little misaligned from the top menu. How can i align it?

  • For (a) & (b) I suggest you look here:

    For (c) I suggest you use Firebug or equivalent to look at the li.lang-item and see if you need to change the vertical-align, height or line-height.

    I’ve already see those links you send me. Can you be a little more specific and simpler. i’m sorry, but I must confess that this is not my beach. If i dont have all the information, it’s very difficult to me to fill the empty spaces.

    Yours sincerely

    Hello again

    a) and b)
    I’ve already read the link contents you send me, but i confess i didn’t understand it. Can you be more specific?

    c) I follow your instructions on plugin FAQ and insert the CSS on style.css of my child-theme, but nothing happens. You told me to look at li.lang-item… sorry for my question, but where can i find it?

    I have always written my own themes so I’m not so familiar with the process. Try to see if you can find more info and examples on the internet or contact the theme developer. Since you have paid for it you are entitled to support!

    You are right to use a child theme to modify the CSS. Use Firebug or other development tools to select the flags by using the arrow button then clicking there. You will notice the HTML structure is like this (very simplified)

    <ul>
        <li>
            <a>HOME</a>
        </li>
        <li>
            <a>WORK etc.</a>
        </li>
        <li class="lang-item">
            <a><img>FLAG</img></a>
        </li>
    </ul>

    I am guessing you need to modify the li with class lang-item. Abbreviated to li.lang-item. Firebug changes the page as you modify the code so you can see what looks right. Use it with trial and error then paste the code into your child CSS.

    Hello

    First of all thanks for your answers.
    The question about flag alignment is already resolved. Your help was very importante to me to understand how to make it happen.

    The problem now is the home message on static homepage, the title above the last projects and the footer message.

    a) for the home message, all i want to do is translate it accordingly to the selected language. So, in portuguese i want “Olá! Sou ilustrador, arquitecto e astronauta nos tempo livres. Sejam bem vindos ao meu mundo”, and in english “Hello! I’m an illustrator, architect and a part-time astronaut. Welcome to my world.”. I have 2 static homepages for the 2 languages. The problem is, when i change the home message, that ghage affects de 2 homepages. I run all the forum searching for the perfect solution, and i eve try lots of thing i found, like the wpml.config.xml on you FAQ, but nothing seems to work. I know i’m doing something or everything. Can you help me please.

    b) Exactly the same for recent projects type.

    c) and the same for footer message (bottom right). That string doesn’t appeared on Setting/language/string translation.

    What can i do?

    Your sincerely

    Can you help me please?

    b) Exactly the same for recent projects type. how can i change automatically that title on homepage, for 2 different languages.

    c) and the same for footer message (bottom right). That string doesn’t appeared on Setting/language/string translation.

    d) One last question… on all my projects, on the botton, it appeared a gray button with the phrase “pll_544e65c552867”. If i click it, i will go to https://www.paulogalindro.com/pt/?taxonomy=post_translations&term=pll_544e65c552867. What is that? How can i delete it?

    Can you help me?

    Hello Paulo
    You can ask to your theme author that you need to create a file wpml-config.xml and so you need to know the option name of your theme and the names of each options.
    Or if you want we could find together these names. Then you must go in your database.
    On the right click on
    => wp_options : an array appear focuse you on 2 columns: option_name option_value.
    option_name: search something with “mindful” (it’s the option name) and past me (in this thread) the value (option_value).

    Hello… first of all, thank you for your precious help.

    As a suspect, the theme actor didn’t told me the dat i need. So, i went to my database and tryed to figure out what the data you ask me. I am an architect and illustrator, not a computer technician. This is not really my thing, and all I can do is by sheer stubbornness and being self-taught. I walked by it a little lost within the database, and found some data regarding to that field that i think perhaps is what you need to make a wpml-config.xml file:

    option_id: 510

    option_name: mindfulchild

    option_value:

    s:19:”ttrust_home_message”;s:107:”Olá! Sou ilustrador, arquitecto e astronauta nos tempos livres. Sejam bem vindos ao meu universo.

    s:28:”ttrust_recent_projects_title”;s:18:”Projectos recentes”

    s:19:”ttrust_footer_right”;s:81:”é interdita a reprodu??o total ou parcial sem a prévia autoriza??o do autor”

    Is this data you need?

    Yes. I send you an email. Tell me if it works. After upload the file you must find these strings in your WP Admin Settings > Languages > tab String translations.

    I paste it the solution for other users:

    <wpml-config>
        <admin-texts>
            <key name="mindfulchild">
                <key name="ttrust_home_message" />
                <key name="ttrust_recent_projects_title" />
                <key name="ttrust_footer_right">
                </key>
            </key>
        </admin-texts>
    </wpml-config>

    The file wpml-config.xml must be placed in the root directory of the plugin or theme. It is also possible for users to create their own wpml-config.xml file and to upload it in /wp-content/polylang/ (create the directory if it does not exist).

    The WPML language configuration file
